Ingredients

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  3. Beat butter and both sugars in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Reduce mixer speed to low and gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips with a spatula.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  8. Sprinkle each cookie with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  9. Bake for 11–13 minutes until edges are golden but centers still look slightly underdone.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
