Easy Cardamom Pear Crumble
A comforting and aromatic dessert featuring tender pears with a sweet, spiced crumble topping.
I love finding simple desserts that feel a little bit special, and this Easy Cardamom Pear Crumble is definitely one of them. The warm, fragrant cardamom pairs beautifully with the sweet pears, creating a dessert that’s perfect for a cozy evening or a casual gathering. It’s so straightforward to make, even if you’re new to baking, you’ll be amazed at how easily this comes together.
Ingredients
- 6 medium ripe pears (like Bosc or Anjou), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup (1.5 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8x8 inch baking dish or a similar sized oven-safe dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced pears, granulated sugar, ground cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger. Toss gently to coat the pears evenly. Pour the pear mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use your fingers, a pastry blender, or a fork to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the pear mixture in the baking dish.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the pear filling is bubbling and tender when pierced with a fork.
- Let the crumble cool for at least 10-15 minutes before serving. It's delicious served warm on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
