One-Pan Spiced Lamb and Apple Hash
A hearty, flavorful one-pan meal featuring tender lamb, sweet apples, and warm spices.
I love finding recipes that are both incredibly flavorful and minimal on the cleanup, and this One-Pan Spiced Lamb and Apple Hash is exactly that. It brings together the savory depth of lamb with the crisp sweetness of apples, all coated in a comforting blend of spices. I first made this on a chilly evening when I craved something hearty but didn't want to spend ages in the kitchen, and it quickly became a favorite. Even if you're new to cooking, this recipe is straightforward and forgiving, making it perfect for anyone looking for a delicious, fuss-free meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 medium apples (like Honeycrisp or Gala), cored and diced
- 1 large sweet potato, peeled and diced into ½-inch cubes
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground cumin
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground lamb and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the lamb. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Add the diced apples and sweet potato to the skillet.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon, cumin, cloves, salt, and pepper over the mixture. Stir well to coat everything evenly with the spices.
- Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sweet potatoes are tender and the apples are softened.
- Uncover the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring more frequently, to allow any excess liquid to evaporate and the hash to slightly crisp up.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve the hash hot, garnished with fresh chopped parsley.
